Peter M Hurley Master Blues Photo Journalist 8-4-2024 Peter Hurleys love of Blues music began in the early 60s when he first heard Bo Diddleys haunting voice and guitar on his first Chess recording at a 6th grade pool party. Having grown up in Atlanta, GA., the notion that he would someday meet, photograph and interview the harp player on that album, Billy Boy Arnold, for his own online column, Blues In Action, seemed far-fetched. But it did come to pass. His father moved his family of ten to Chicago in 1963. Spellbound by the blues, Peter Hurley hasnt stopped photographing blues performers since his first live session at a Barack Obama election night celebration in 2012. His art-trained eye jumped-started his success in the photo field and has led to over two hundred published photos and articles in Living Blues Magazine, Blues Blast Magazine, Big City Rhythm & Blues, the Chicago Reader and cd covers for Delmark Records and other labels. Peter has captured & displayed the whos who families of the blues industry including Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Little Walter, Howlin Wolf, Lonnie Brooks, Carey Bell, Eddie Taylor and many more. He is definitely contributing to keeping the blues alive one picture at a time.
